god's OFFER OF WHOLENESS
John 10:9-10 (NKJV) 9 "I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture.
10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly."
Have you noticed how hard the world strives for happiness but never discovers true inner satisfaction? They go to their concerts where they are given a "High" feeling for the moment but return to the same unfulfilled life they had before the music festival. Many drink in their effort to get away from feeling empty, sad or disappointed in life but only succeed in having to go through the after effects--getting sick, having a splitting headache, etc. Some people try to feel good by overeating only to see themselves fat and unattractive. There are those convinced that they will find happiness in accumulating wealth. This probably brings satisfaction for a while, but eventually there is that same empty feeling they cannot escape. I read an article a long time ago on those who had won a lottery or some 'game' only to become totally disillusioned because money was not the key to happiness.
The newspapers in America are writing about the epidemic we have of people becoming drug dependent. Psychiatrists, psychiatric social workers, social workers and other specialists are frantically seeking the answer for removing this drug problem from our country. They will never succeed because they refuse to face the real cause of our drug dependency. People are suffering from a spiritual depravity that denies them the solution that will bring people true happiness. Specialists can use all the fancy words they know, but unless we are willing to face our problem honestly, we are going to see an increase in drug dependency as people try to escape the void they feel in their lives.
A doctor does not tell his patient to have a cup of cocoa to heal a lung disease. He or she will not tell a person with a broken arm to just ignore it by playing a game of tennis. No one is foolish enough to approach medical problems like this even if a person never attended medical school.
The pain, the disillusion and the despair that is so common is due to the fact that the majority of people are not willing to accept the fact that God has created human beings so that they can never feel whole unless they allow Him to complete them with the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. People will never make the necessary choice for happiness unless they realize that they must turn to the Lord Jesus Christ as the One who governs their life. Obviously, the unbeliever will ridicule this solution which does not make sense to him, but he will never feel whole as long as he persists in letting himself pursue the things of this world instead of surrendering to the one for whom we were made. It is as Paul said in Colossians 1:16 (NKJV).
"For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. "
As long as anyone refuses to surrender his or her life to the Lord Jesus, the One for whom they were created, that person will feel empty and continue to seek solutions that leave him or her feeling unfulfilled. It is as Jesus said, "I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly." It is sad but true that the majority of people will never know the joy that Jesus brings to those willing to crucify their old nature and surrender themselves to Jesus Christ seeking their Lord's guidance through God's word. No one will feel whole and complete with an abundant life until he or she confesses their sins and asks Jesus to send the Holy Spirit to take charge of their lives providing God's grace that transforms them into the people God planned for them to be.
"Lord Jesus, i want you to take charge of my life and I claim your mercy and forgiveness of my sins each day. Fill me with the Holy Spirit to transform me into the person God intended me to be that I might have life abundantly. Amen.
